some moar tiger game stuff

a (crappy) video i took of a foul ball that ended up near us

it wasn't even the closest one to us. There was one that almost hit me in the head. Kevin knocked over his chair to try and get to it ... and almost bowled over Paws too!!!

Speaking of Paws ... the 7th inning stretch dance was right in front of us

and here's the view from our seats I took with my cell

some chicks in front of us with awesome tigers hats (they had tails too...very cute!)

some random half-nekkie guys who were painted up and posing for the Fox sports camera that was right behind us

and in case I've never mentioned it before ... I REALLY REALLY HATE pink sports stuff

Ideally it should NEVER be acceptable ... but I will make exceptions for babies ... especially those that you can't tell if it's a boy or a girl at first glance (and there are lots of those for me)

but seriously .... PINK TIGER PAWS!!!???!!! They have colours for sports teams for a reason! GAH!!!!

Things I should have blogged in 2007 part 5

Kevin and I got to go to 2 Tiger games this year! The first one was right after Jules had posted her pics of the stadium and I was so excited to be able to go and take my own pictures with my new camera (well .... not so new at the time, but still exciting nonetheless)

Of course I forgot to post the pics I took and today, as I was going thru and seperating scanned pictures in my puter (so I can eventually organize and share those pics with my family and get them out of the plastic bags they’re currently being stored in) I found my pictures from our first Tigers game last year (and actually our first game in Comerica Park ever)

And now it's time to go watch some FOOTBALL!!! Hopefully I'll get to see Brett Favre HUMILIATED on national television *crosses fingers and toes*

TODD FRIGGING BERTUZZI!!! (and other Detroit sports stuff)

It wasn't until late last night when i heard the news that we signed Todd Bertuzzi. TODD FRIGGING BERTUZZI!!! I thought someone was pulling a fast one on me. I *love* Todd Bertuzzi! Have since way before the "Steve Moore" incident. I thought the NHL gave him a bum deal.I'm not saying I agree with what he did, but how is that different from what Darren McCarty did to Claude Lemieux after his brutal attack on Kris Draper. OR the attack itself on Drapes. I don't recall the NHL taking legal action the way they did on Bertuzzi. Perhaps I'm glossing over that in my mind. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, he's a Red Wing now and surely destined to be one of my favorites once he gets on the ice. They're saying sometime in late March. Which is perfect. Just in time for the final stretch before the playoffs. How nice it will be to see a man like Todd Bertuzzi playing with a winged wheel on his chest.

I'm not saying our team isn't strong, but our defense will only get better when he gets on the ice. He's an enforcer who can score. We haven't had one of those since probably Konstantinov (imho). It's something that's been sorely missed.

Another acquisition was Kyle Calder from Philly, with which we lost Jason Williams to Chicago. I was a little sad about that one. I liked Jason Williams...until I saw the game last night. You know the one....where Calder kicked it like a seasoned Wing and got TWO points in his first game as a Wing with a goal and an assist! WAAAHOOO!!! Things are looking good for us as we get near the end of the season!

And of course lets not forget about our Tigers!!! They got their 2nd win in Spring Training (first win over a MLB ball team) against the Mets today winning 5-4. I'm a diehard Mets fan, so this is a little bittersweet for me. They are the only other MLB team I've seen in their own stadium (Shea Stadium back in 1991) and it was spectacular. But one has to always root for the hometeam. so YAY TIGERS!!!

I'm looking forward to maybe getting to a couple games this year at Comerica Park and continuing my renewed love affair with my Detroit Tigers.

Nothing on the Detroit Lions front. They look like their not gonna even try to rebuild this year. I will still root for them, of course. I love them no matter what they do. Kinda like that black sheep brother/sister you have. You don't always agree withtheir life choices and wish they could get out of the situations they're in, but they're part of your heart no matter what.

Pistons big news came the other day when Ben Wallace came back into town and was booed big time by the fans. No surprise there really. We still boo Sergei Federov when he skates at the Joe. Detroit fans have a long memory and we are bitter when someone we love leaves us for someone else. I still don't completely forgive Barry Sanders.

So there you have it.

So Much for NaBloPoMo

I really wanted to unofficially participate. I especially love signing in and getting so many varied blogs to read as I do my daily online things. I'm getting more insight into my friends which always makes me happy and I'm learning more about people who are becoming my friends. However, due to the kitty in the puter room (only until we get her tested for FelV which should be Monday) I haven't been able to do much else but read what's going on. She has taken to jumping on my lap every chance she gets and curling in my arm. Which is absolutely adorable and I love her for it, but it makes blogging or emailing or just about anything to do with the keyboard pretty frigging hard. So i have designated December for JazBloPoMo ^_^

so let's quickly catch up. here are some pics I forgot to post from  the weekend of the World Series.

My sister and her hubby drove from Virginia to be here for game 1 of the world series. i hadn't seen her since my wedding (even tho i talk to her almost everyday) so we met up with them friday night down in wyandotte. we went first to lions, tigers and beers but it was way crowded and loud so we strolled over to somewhere for karaoke and conversation. had a great time!

the next day we all piled into my sister's car and headed downtown to be there for game 1:

and even tho he didn't go w/ us, parker got in the tiger spirit

we headed dowtown and parked near the people mover station @ fort and cass ... $5 for parking vs. $35 closer. we grabbed the people mover, headed to the spirit of detroit and then walked to comerica. while we were @ the spirit so was channel 7 news with a live broadcast. we didn't get in the front, but we were part of the noisy crowd behind the reporter all the same.

Once we got to comerica park it was crazy awesomeness! People everywhere! All down there for one reason...to cheer the Tigers (and maybe have a couple drinks while doing so)

We made our way over to the Elwood for the start of the game. we started out inside at a cherry spot right at the bar in front of the TV but eventually moved outside to the garage. My friend Rich was there with 97.1FM talk radio doing sound so I got to chat with him for a few. We spent sometime near their set up before finding a better spot at a TV over near one of the entrances. At one point in time the TV went haywire and started chaging channels by itself. I still think someone had a remote control and was messing with the drunk people. You should have seen the funny that was these guys trying to fight with the TV and get it to stay on the game. They tried turning it off and on, unplugging it from the wall, unplugging the cable, eventually they just hit it and VOILA! it stopped. Kevin, my cousin Joe and my brother Bob eventually made their way to the Elwood and met up with us right before the game was over.

After the game we walked around and eventually made our way to Cobo Joe's to catch the end of the wings game and chat some more since Velisia and Jose were leaving the next day.

Eventually we all parted ways and made it home okay. The next day Kevin and I went to my Mom's to meet with some guy from the Michigan Paranormal Society and got to say bye to Velisia and Jose before they left. I'm always sad when they leave. i wish they lived closer. it was a nice quasi bday present to see them tho.

i wanted to share more pics from other stuff but kitty woke up and is laying on my lap now and trying to blog herself.

so to finish off an awesome pic my sis took:
