Even Cowgirls Get the Blues

This month isn't all about watching movies, it's also been about reading some books. In the past months I've read Diary by Chuck Palahniuk and a bunch of books by Christopher Moore (Lamb, Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck, currently working on Practical Demonkeeping) (and watched movies AND working on crafts ... I'm a busy woman lol)

I had someone recommend this book to me. She said it was one of her favorites. (This and East of Eden)

And let me also say that only once before did I ever stop reading a book before I was finished. Bram Stoker's "Dracula" has that honor.( If I meet him in the after life I'm dragging him by his ear and leading him straight to an English Grammar class.)

This book makes it twice.

I tried people. I tried really really REALLY hard. I started reading it and it wasn't working for me so I'd put it down. I thought it was cuz I had just read Palahniuk and the writing style was so different, so I took a few days off to clear my head and went back at it. No luck.

So again I gave it some time. And again it didn't work.

I've really tried. I think i'm a little over 100 pages in and let me tell you. If I hear one more frigging word about how freakishly big this chick's thumbs are or how gorgeous she is otherwise I think I'm going to go postal.

I just can't hack it anymore.

So back to the library it goes. Along with East of Eden cuz the chick that recommended both of these book to me gave me the disclaimer that EoE "Starts off slow" ...which prolly means I could wind up killing myself if I attempt it.

I'm never listening to her again. And if I see her again I may punch her in the face for being such an idiotic person.

P.S. No I've never seen the movie. (nor have I seen East of Eden either)

P.P.S. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone for whom "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues" was a masterpiece.

Tropic Thunder

Went to the drive-in last night. Wanted to see Mirrors but it wasn't playing with anything we wanted to see (or hadn't already) so we opted for the cheap 6-9 theatres to see Tropic Thunder and Step brothers.

OMFG!! tropic Thunder was the most hilarious movie I've seen in a long time! I couldn't stop laughing from the time it started! Rober Downey Jr. was frigging amazing! and TOM CRUISE IS IN IT!!! And I actually Loved him in it!!!

I seriously cried so much I couldn't see! The last movie i laughed this hard at was "Talladega Nights" before that was "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"

Step brothers was okay. kinda cheesy. kinda stupid. No naked Will Farrell which disappointed me. Maybe he's getting too old for the butt shots? Still I liked it. And the commentary from the cars near us made it even funnier. I think they were all stoned.

all in all a decent night at the drive in. And I'm hoping to see Mirrors on Wednesday at the real theatre.
