Saturday Scruples

1.You're driving alone on a highway at night when a desperate looking person tries to flag you down. Do you stop?

don't think so . . . not at night

2.You're summoned for jury duty in what promises to be a tedious trial. Do you pretend to have views which will disqualify you?

I'd pretend anyway . . . no seriously i don't care. so the answer is no i don't

3.You smoke. Your teenager wants to smoke because you do. Do you quit

no. see answer to question 3 of last week.
the new Saturday Scruples isn't up, so i'll answer last week's that i forgot about (ooops) . . .

Saturday Scruples! A game of moral dilemmas at VillaSantiago.com!

1.You're interviewing candidates for a job. The best qualified applicant is overweight. Do you hire this person?

Overweight is not an issue (at least i don't think it is) the issue should be whether or not they are well-groomed. If they dress weel, carry themselves well, are qualified & can handle themselves professionally, then i don't see why not!

2.
A loved one is in a car accident and is dying. You're asked to donate his organs for a transplant. Do you? (note: you don't know the persons wishes.)

I can't neccessarily answer this fairly cuz i pretty much know that everyone i love that i would be put in this situation for i already know the answer.. . . for the most part they all want to be donators. altho kevin finds the idea "icky" and i would think that i would respect his wishes.

3>Your adolescent children ask if you ever smoked marijuana when you were young. You did. Do you admit it?

yes. and i also educate them on the dangers of smoking and the ramifications.

You're Caramilk!
Just stuffed full of surprises. No one ever knows what you're going to do next. The greatest mystery to you is, naturally, "how do they get the caramel in the Caramilk bars?"
You're ICQ!
You're ICQ, one of the oldest instant messaging systems. You're a number. But you are skinable, which is always good.
you suck, and that's sad
you are the "you suck, and that's sad"
happy bunny. your truthful, but can be a bit
brutal.

which happy bunny are you?

Well, look like car trouble is over (thank goodness) Kevin called from work and he's on his way home & the car started just fine. YAY!!
OH! and for the record. the car started just fine this morning once we hooked the battery back up *yay* altho the real test is later on tonight when kevin leaves work since the battery will be hooked up all day with major potential to be drained by anything in the car that could be doing so *crosses fingers*

1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?

hmmmm . . . . i'd have to say fiction . . . preferably horror & dark stuff. I simply love to read however, and have been known to just grab anything nearby to satiate my thirst. A fave story of my mom's is when i was little and we were on a road trip one summer for vacation. All there was in the van to read were those Shell car guides you would get for free from the gas station. I musta read each of those about 12 times!! i (theoretically) knew everything one could possibly know about cars ;)

2. What is your favorite novel?

WOW! my favorite novel??? hmm . . .well, i really really liked A Prayer for Owen Meany . . . and of course i LOVE just about anything from Anne Rice . . .but i'd have to say probably Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. (he's the guy who also wrote "Fight Club"). It's just such an interesting book with it going backwards and all. It starts at the end and goes backwards to the beginning . . . even the pages are numbered backwards. It's a very cool book . . .albeit a little "weird" for those of you into John Grisham & V.C. andrews etc.

3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)

My Last Duchess
Robert Browning

That's my last Duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder, now: Fra Pandolf's hands
Worked busily a day, and there she stands.
Will `t please you sit and look at her? I said
"Fra Pandolf" by design, for never read
Strangers like you that pictured countenance,
The depth and passion of its earnest glance,
But to myself they turned (since none puts by
The curtain I have drawn for you, but I)
And seemed as they would ask me, if they durst,
How such a glance came there; so, not the first
Are you to turn and ask thus. Sir, `twas not
Her husband's presence only, called that spot
Of joy into the Duchess' cheek: perhaps
Fra Pandolf chanced to say "Her mantle laps
Over my lady's wrist too much," or "Paint
Must never hope to reproduce the faint
Half-flush that dies along her throat": such stuff
Was courtesy, she thought, and cause enough
For calling up that spot of joy. She had
A heart -- how shall I say? -- too soon made glad,
Too easily impressed; she liked whate'er
She looked on, and her looks went everywhere.
Sir, `twas all one! My favor at her breast,
The dropping of the daylight in the West,
The bough of cherries some officious fool
Broke in the orchard for her, the white mule
She rode with round the terrace -- all and each
Would draw from her alike the approving speech,
Or blush, at least. She thanked men -- good! but thanked
Somehow -- I know not how -- as if she ranked
My gift of a nine-hundred-years-old name
With anybody's gift. Who'd stoop to blame
This sort of trifling? Even had you skill
In speech -- which I have not -- to make your will
Quite clear to such an one, and say, "Just this
Or that in you disgusts me; here you miss,
Or there exceed the mark" -- and if she let
Herself be lessoned so, nor plainly set
Her wits to yours, forsooth, and made excuse
-- E'en then would be some stooping; and I choose
Never to stoop. Oh sir, she smiled, no doubt,
Whene'er I passed her; but who passed without
Much the same smile? This grew; I gave commands;
Then all smiles stopped together. There she stands
As if alive. Will `t please you rise? We'll meet
The company below, then. I repeat,
The Count your master's known munificence
Is ample warrant that no just pretense
Of mine for dowry will be disallowed;
Though his fair daughter's self as I avowed
At starting, is my object. Nay, we'll go
Together down, sir. Notice Neptune, though,
Taming a sea horse, thought a rarity,
Which Claus of Innshruck cast in bronze for me!

4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?

There are far too many books here to name, for reading is indeed a apssion of mine. Let's just say that a goal of mine has been to go to the neighborhood library and check out and read every single book they have there . . . preferably in order as they are on the shelves ;)

5. What are you currently reading?

Currently I am going between 2 books (dependant upon my mood) Wobegone Boy by Garrison Keillor and Lord of the Flies by William Golding

Also known widely as the Fire Bird, the phoenix is a profound symbol of the circle of life. It has a life cycle of 500 to 600 ears and after that amount of time, it sets itself on fire and dies in the flames. Then after three days, it rises again from the ashes. It is a completely benign creature who lives in dew. It is said that the phoenix has a beautiful melidous song which grows ever more mournful as its life comes to an end. It is a symbol of the sun and immortality. The phoenix is a very worthwhile beast.

So, here's the deal . . . that car didn't start again this morning *sigh* but luckily my mom was sweet and drove me to work force @ 6:45am this morning. *yuck* Today wasn't too bad tho, altho I am sore like a son of a bitch! we went to one of the elementary schools here in town and they had a tunnel underneath the school FILLED with those old skool desks i'm sure we all used. formica top on metal legs with a metal box attached to the underside to put your books n stuff in as well as chairs that went with them and those little long wooden desk we (or at least I) used in like 1st grade where you shared with someone and had to put one of those dividers on the desk to block the view when you took a test. We had to take all that stuff (plus some misc. stuff in boxes) from the tunnel, down about 10 steps, across the basement (probably about 100 ft) over to another flight of stairs that went UP (about 20 steps) then out to the dumpster. Not counting all the lifting, i got quite a workout from just the stairs. the front of my legs are SO SORE!! *bitch bitch bitch* Luckily the guys were pretty cool and anything that was really heavy i didn't have to carry . . . or didn't have to carry very far. Don't doubt that i did my fair share of work tho! I came home and, after some neo playing and chatting with a fellow PCer (*hugs*) i crashed for about 3 hours!!

Kevin got a ride into work from a co-worker this morning. My poor baby worked 12 hours today. When he got off, my step dad took me to go get him & then we went and got a battery from Meijer's. After Kevin installed it, and after a few unlucky tries, we got it to start. YAY!!!! we're almost positive it was the battery, cuz Kev says it was almost as old as the car, if not as old (it's a '95) but just to be safe we disconnected it when we got home. that way if there's something in the car that's draining it, we'll at least be able to start it in the morning for when he goes to work. I am so seriously wanting to invest in one of those portable jump kits tho. Just in case. then you don't have to rely on waiting for someone else to come to your rescue.

So that's my day in a utshell. I'm sooooo tired. Gonna head to sleep in a few. Gotta wake up with Kevin in the AM to make sure the car starts, then hopefully back to sleep for a couple more hours :p i'm so spoiled
OMG!! How freaking cool is this???

AudioBlog

Seriously, If i had a credit card, I might consider that!!! I could blog from work all day long lol!!!

2/26/03

i haven't been able to blog lately. Acutally yesterday i was around, but i was busy. I was supposed to do work force, but the car got plowed around & then wouldn't start. It didn't start again today *sigh* which mean i have to walk up to probation to report & then i have to walk to work. Poor Kevin's stuck at work. He's got a ride home tonight thank goodness and a ride to work tomorrow . . . i gotta walk to work force tomorrow :( so i'm just bitching. I'll tell more tomorrow, but i have to get stuff together so i can be on time to my probation. *hugs*
