We figured out we could swing offering and closing costs and the trip to New Orleans but it would be tight...we'd have to eat ramen and only rent free movies at Hollywood video (we're in that MVP program where it's $9.99/month and all the rentals (except new releases) free) and roll our own cigarettes instead of buying them (yeah we smoke...nasty habit i know) and wash laundry at my mom's and not go out at all to the movies or for drinks or dinner or anything....we could do it. So Kevin was all set to go to the realtor's office and sign the papers and make the offer this morning and right before he was leaving the house he got a phone call from Steve (the realtor) telling us the sellers had accepted another offer. Steve had called the seller's realtor last night and told her his buyers were interested and were going to make a lucrative offer and he would faz over everything tomorrow...she called him this morning at 8:30am and told him another offer had already been accepted. So he called us.
To be honest, I'm still a little upset we didn't get the house, but it's kind of a relief. We're still gonna live tiny the next few weeks (not as tiny as we would have, but still not go out, rent free movies, go to mom's to do laundry, thank goodness we'll eat more then ramen lol as much as i love it (with some eggs and onion) even I could get sick of it) I'm gonna send Steve some properties that I found on realtor.com that we liked and he's gonna check them out for us. We're gonna start looking again in a week or so. I have faith there's another house out there for us. And who knows, the other house we looked at Wednesday that we liked might still be on the market when we're able to make another offer. It was work, but it was gorgeous and almost perfect.
So that's the deal. I'm much better today. Actually, i knew we weren't going to get the house even before we got the call. It's gonna sound stupid, but I was watching House Hunters on HGTV last night (i love that show). Usually they show them looking at their 3 top houses, then they make a bid, then they get the call that it was accepted and show the house to us again after the family/couple/whatever has moved in and decorated. THIS show they showed someone looking at one house and they made an offer on it the next day and it wasn't accepted...they accepted another offer. So she had to look for something as close to perfect as she could get. So when I saw this episode, I just knew it was like a "sign" (I'm crazy I know that) and we weren't going to get the house. So when the phone rang early this morning I already knew why.

House Hunting Blues
Well, Steve, our realtor just called us and apparently there are 2 other offers on the home we want. Not only that but they are on a 24hour contingency so the owner has until Saturday to accept and their realtor is fairly certain they will be accepting one of them. This means if we want it we have to put in a bid tomorrow at the latest and have $1000 good faith money. This is a part apparently I didn't understand. I thought that the good faith money was given to them at a later date. How it goes is Kevin goes in and signs papers and gives Steve a check for $1000 that Steve will fax over with the offer papers. If they accept the offer they will cash that $$ which will go towards the amount of the total loan. We'll still have to come up with about $500 when it closes to reimburse them for the taxes they've already paid.
I know Kevin's gonna yell at me about the trip to New Orleans and tell me that if we weren't going we'd be able to get this house. Now we're gonna lose it. All I wanna do is cry. I'm so upset.

Crazy Day
Well we went house hunting today. It was a major success. Both of the houses were absolutely fabulous! We looked at a house on Kinloch just off Beech and 5mile that was so incredibly adorable! First of all the outside was cute....it has a fake wishing well on the lawn which kevin loved cuz we can be like "which house is it? It's the one with the wishing well" lol
When we went inside the rooms were great. It's kinda set up like my cousin Angie's home. The dining room (painted mauve with a decorative chair rail) is to the left and the living room (painted light blue) to the right. Go straight ahead and it's a hall with the bathroom to the right and the up-stairs to the left and then 2 back rooms (1 painted dark blue and one painted lime green). The kitchen is off the dining room and there's a small hall leading from the kitchen to the main hall (so it's kinda like a circle...so you can go from the kitchen to the bathroom w/o going thru the other rooms). The back door is off the kitchen and that's also where the stairs leading down are. The basement is finished and there's a dry bar in the back right corner ...it's so cute!!!! Then you go thru the door and there's the HUGE laundry room and workbench area and storage.
There's no bathroom in the basement but there's an area we could probably put one later on. We didn't get to really see the yard cuz they have a dog, but it's a nice size with a 1 car garage and room for a garden. The only thing that kinda worries me is moving the furniture in cuz the front entrance is oddly shaped and cornered instead of straight up.
The other house was about a mile away on Centralia off 6mile and Beech Daly. It's a corner home. really pretty. Almost the same layout as the 1st but reversed...when you walk in the dining room is on the right and the living room on the left...hall straight ahead with bathroom on right and up-stairs on the left and 2 back rooms...with a door to the backyard in the room on the right...kitchen off dining room and off living room ... finished basement with full bath down there...but basement is in a U shape with no real flow and no work area like the other. Plus the paint was all apt. beige thru-out the house.
There's a door on the side of the house as well as the one in the back room. The yard is huge but it needs lots of work. It needs to be levelled and resodded and the fence needs to be redone. The garage is nice. No driveway (like my mom's) but there's the parking all along the corner. The house itself is red brick.
The one on Kinloch is about 13K cheeper than the one on Centralia. That means around $70 less a month. It's a tiny factor, but it is one. Both houses have everything we're looking for. EVERYTHING! I think we're both leaning towards the one on Kinloch tho. It's got tons of personality and needs much less work to make it ours.
He's gonna be home in a few, we're gonna talk about it some more. Our realtor wants us to make an offer tomorrow so we don't lose it. That's why we're gonna talk about it. Cuz we also have to come up with $1000 good faith money once they accept our offer. It's a little scary, but it's so exciting! I'm scared to move away from this area cuz it's what i know so well, but it makes sense cuz it's only about 5 minutes from the highway and Kevin can drive surface streets to work and be there in about 15 instead of the 45 it takes him now.
The other thing today was i tried to buy tickets for the trip to New Orleans and got Kevin's okay but when i went to buy mine the cc was refused...my mom had loaned me hers but she didn't have enough for the limit. So i was all stressed and didn't want to ask my sister for her cc again to buy mine too (even tho we're gonna pay her back there) and she offered anyway so i got the ticket and it's all good and we're going down may 15th and leaving may 19th YAY!!! And we're going to see the midnight showing of Star Wars!!!! I'm so excited!!! We're gonna have so much fun!!!

Just thinking
been thinking about the house. You know, the one i love but has no A/C. I'm thinking I don't love it as much as I thought. The kitchen really kinda bugs me. I want something more open. I love the floor plan of the house, but I think we can do better, even if it's not it a great neighborhood. I mean, not a place where we wouldn't feel safe...but it doesn't have to be as "prestigious" as where we were looking. I was looking on realtor.com tonight and found quite a few houses roughly in the same area we were looking in the same price range and they have A/C. So tomorrow I'm going to probably hook up the printer again and print a bunch of them out do kevin can drive by them and check them out .... see if they're still on the market...either that or email them all to me and fwd them to Steve. He'll hate me lol. He told me not to look there cuz alot of times the houses listed are for sale anymore. I have to go thru and narrow them down tho...i have 74 houses saved lol. ooooops! Don't think I wanna look at 74.
K...gonna try and get some sleep *hugs* sweet dreams!

House Hunting
So we went house hunting today. Redford Area. About 15 minutes (max) away from where Kevin's working right now. The first house we looked at was gorgeous! 3 setbacks on it tho (besides the fact it's at the top of our budget) are that there's no formal dining room, the kitchen isn't open to the rest of the house and there's no central air. No A/C at all as far as we could tell. That would be a problem in MI in the summer. The 2nd house was nasty nasty nasty! The neighborhood wasn't as nice as the first house and it needed so much work it wasn't even funny! And the kitchen was attrocious... but it did have a full bath in the basement. The 3rd house was so adorable on the outside. Such a pretty pretty blue with grey and burgundy accents, a nice big front porch, a cute 1 car garage in back...but when we walked in omg it was so tiny! I felt claustrophobic. And the kitchen didn't have a dishwasher, but the kitchen tile was fabulous! So was the bathroom wallpaper and it had a pedestal sink in there. There was no closet space to speak of tho.
So I'm calling our realtor back again tomorrow to set up the last 3 houses to look at wednesday morning. We'll see. *crosses fingers*
