MIL update

as you may or may not know, hubby's mom was admitted to the hospital over the weekend. we hadn't received much in the way of updates until Sunday morning when SIL left a nasty message telling us to "get our asses to the hospital" to see her and say goodbye or we would "regret it and have it on your conscience forever that you didn't get to see her one last time before she died ... cuz she IS going to die"

so we braced ourselves, went to the hospital and got there just as they had removed her breathing tube. She was supposedly doing much better. she knew hubby was there and she talked with him a little - told him she loves him. His 2 brothers were there, J (the one that told him their dad died) and K (the one that kicked us out of his house on xmas) as well as K's wife. J (the SIL that left the message) was with their kids (under 14 not allowed in ICU)

thankfully they left us alone pretty much. as a matter of fact they didn't even speak to us and barely looked our way. hubby sat next to his mom and held her hand and I sat in the corner out of the way. we stayed for a couple hours (almost until visiting hours were over) It was hell on my hubby, but he did okay. and there were no scenes so we took that to be a good thing.

yesterday I tried to call the hospital to find out how my MIL was doing, but they wouldn't give me any information. they told me to "call the family" i was like "WE ARE the family" but they wouldn't budge except to tell me she was stable and still in ICU. And she only told me that after i explained that hubby wasn't receiving info from his brothers thanks to family drama.

Later on hubby received a call from J that K and his wife were already trying to divvy up their mom's things and wanted K to be on his side. This pissed me off when hubby told me cuz A. J is a crazy asshole who has no right to ask my hubby for ANYTHING! and B. their dad is still alive. so anything hers would be his unless otherwise stated in a will (which I don't think she has)

At first I told hubby he should step in, but then as we talked i realized it's something he doesn't want to be involved in and he really doesnt NEED to be involved in. And i guess his brother J even said "when mom and dad die we'll just be 3 separate people" - which is essentially what they are now.

ANYWAY!!!!!!!

Hubby called me today shortly before 2PM - they sent him home from work cuz he was far too distracted there. They know his mom's in bad shape. And he had spoken to his brother K. i guess their mom was originally being treated for a bronchial infection but they were waiting on test results. Well, they removed the breathing tube before they found out it wasn't BI but pneumonia! so they had to put her back on the ventilator and she's also on a feeding tube and they're working on draining the fluid from her lungs. The doctors have said the longer she doesn't breath on her own the harder it will be to take her off the machine. And they also don't have any place really to build on. She's a very sick woman. She hasn't taken care of herself lately and now it's come back to bite her.

anyway - we're leaving in a few to go see her tonight, spending the night at my mom's and then going to see her tomorrow before hubby goes to work.
