Wyandotte Art Fair info

So, banshee and I are gonna be part of the 'dap this year at the wyandotte street fair. We wont' know exactly where we are until we get there wednesday morning, but we DO know we are gonna be in the vicinity of 1st and elm (where the Wyandotte theatre used to be) We will have our own tent, so don't look for us under the big communal 'dap tent. (but do go in there and check out the other awesome artist and stuff!!! there's some gorgeous work going on there!) We will be there everyday July 8 - 11 from 10am - 9pm selling our stuffs. And even tho we aren't in the beer tent area there will be some awesome local bands playing on the 'dap stage (which will be solar powered) so check them out too!!! I'm so very excited to see everyone! Please stop by if you can! and don't be shy about bringing a chair or something to hang out with us for awhile!!! and if you show up in the mornings - coffee is much appreciated ;)

a new addition to our family

I'm quite sure we weren't supposed to know about it in the manner we did. Gotta love how buying your 7 year old son a cell phone works out sometimes ;)

He called to make sure i was working on specific bottlecaps they had asked for (which i didn't - i just didn't have time - i'll make some in the next batch after the wyandotte fair) and in the process he was all "Aunt Jazmyn guess what! Guess who's coming over on Saturday?" "Who?" "My sister. yes. i have a sister now."

At first I thought that his parents had gone through with their plans on adopting a baby girl. The had mentioned it a couple times recently since they've had nothing but boys. It didn't help matters that hubby's mom always wanted a granddaughter and i guess they figured that it would kinda be in her honor. (that sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but my brain is too tired to try and clarify it)

But nope! Z told me that she's 17 years old and she's coming over on Saturday and he'll get to meet her. Then he told me he's gonna see me at the art fair on the 11th and reminded me about his bday party on the 12th. then we were abruptly cut off.

So yea. we have a new niece who is 17. I'm kinda nervous but totally excited to meet her. I don't know if J ever knew about her and just didn't tell anyone, or if her mom kept it a secret until now or what. I have no clue. I do know (from experience with my bio father) that she's gonna want to get to know her family and I'm hoping we can make her feel welcome.

Redford Craft Show

So i did a craft show alone today at the Redford Marquee on 5mile and beech (roughly) and it went surprisingly well!! Last time me & banshee were there we barely covered the cost of the space. This time i covered it AND made a couple extra bucks! (and i got a super cute pink crown for my niece)

lots of interest in the chainmaille. People picked them up and looked. I definitely need to price them individually with tags (which i need to stock up on) and need to make some duplicates of certain pieces.

and TONS of interest in the bottlecaps. That's all i sold today pretty much. People gave me ideas on what I should add to the collection. Lots of people took cards. And I even got 2 custom orders!!! (which i'll work on tomorrow).

AND one lady who is a newly certified art teacher wants to get with me to do a workshop or something. We're gonna iron out details.

So even tho i went in not expecting anything, it was a good day for me. Boosted my confidence. Made me feel like I was doing something (not just being a lazy bum) and got me out of the house on a gorgeous day.

on a side note, my friend H got a table and didn't do so hot, but she got lots of feedback. It was her first show, so i didn't expect she was gonna sell much, but now people have seen her and she got her product looked at, so next time people will prolly actually be looking for her.
