My bottlecaps

(as usual lately, click for bigger pics)

So far we got

Busch:

Budweiser:

Bud Select:

Redbridge:

Labatt Blue:

Landshark:

Also thinking of going to a local "brew your own beer" store to see if they have plain bottle caps in stock (I've found them online already, so if I can't find them then it's all good) I'm just thinking that parents might not want to buy their kid my "Hannah Montana pendant" if it's on the back of a Budweiser cap.

We're also gonna start splurging once a week on "good" beer so that I can get more awesome bottle caps for my future bottlecap art. Cuz not only am I gonnado inside the cap art, but i'm thinking I can make magnets and stuff as well.

So those of you who drink awesome things that are capped .... please save me your caps and I will love you forever!!!!!

ao glad I have a laptop

I was watching last night's "Ugly Betty" episode just now and a part came up that just struck a major chord with me. It was a short 5 second moment ... a line that Betty Suarez said to Gio while they are chaperoning the school dance.

Gio is looking around the room telling Betty that the kids at the dance are just like the people she knows in her everyday life. He points out a boy with his arms around 2 girls "There's Daniel" he says. A mean-spirited blonde girl is picking on someone and "There's Amanda" He tells her that she was the kid who didn't have any fun in junior high and she proceeds to list all the activities she was part of, like yearbook and multi cultural club and tells him that she had plenty of fun.

That's when Gio finds "Betty" in the crowd of kids. A lone girl sitting on the bleachers writing in a notebook. He turns to Betty and says "She's probably covering the dance for the schoo newspaper" And Betty turns to him and says, "No, she's waiting for someone to ask her to dance."

It absolutely made me pause the show and pick up the laptop. Because that girl was also me.

I spent so much of my high school life behind a notebook. I kept a journal of one form or another since 1986. (Side note I just found page 1 of the very first entry I ever made into my journal. It's still hard to read. Perhaps someday I'll share it.)

My point is not the journal however. It is that I hid behind it. That everywhere I went I used my journal to cover up the fact that I really just wanted people to talk to me but I was too shy to make the first move. So I wrote instead and hoped against hope that someone would come over and "ask me to dance" and consequently give me a reason to set that notebook down and live.

I'm not saying I didn't live. But I sucked at interactions with people. I really did. I look back at it now and I'm sometimes amazed that i had friends at all. Thankfully, the friends I did make were quality and most are still friends of mine 20 years later.

I wonder sometimes tho what life would have been like if I wouldn't have been so afraid to interact with people. If I would have joined in conversations at the end of classes instead of pulling out my notebook to jot down my thoughts and hide away in. If I had been able to ask someone to dance instead of constantly waiting for someone to ask me.

Finished Tawashi

Click on the pictars to see them bigger (they will open in a new window).

The following are the tawashi I've made with cotton. The square-ish one measures approximately 5" x 4.5" The star is 6" from point to point. The heart is 6" wide and 4" from point to top of the rounded section and the spiral circle is 3"

And this is the only set i have made out of acrylic yarn so far

I still really don't have much of a clue as to what I'm gonna charge for these.

I was thinking $10 a set for the cotton ones and maybe $8 a set for the acrylic ones? is that too expensive do you think? and for etsy it would only be about $3 for shipping per set.

And bonus pictar of the newest baby-ghan I have that I"im gonna also put up tomorrow. It measures approx. 25" x 30"

Wow I'm feeling chatty!!!

Just finished watching "I Am Legend"

I know lots of people don't like Will Smith, but I do. I can't help it. Even crazy scientology and being best friends with crazy Tom Cruise can't change my mind.

SO ... I have never seen any of the other versions nor have I read the book that it was based upon. So I had no idea what to expect. I did watch it with hubby who has seen the other versions tho. He thought it was an excellent blend of the 2.

I loved it.I will admit I started getting just a little sick of his day to day activities, but it totally paid off in a huge climactic turn which made me cry (not the end .... altho the end was fabulous!)

And on the TV tip I'm totally not surprised on the eliminations on Dancing With The Stars and American Idol this week. Should make for awesome episodes next week. Also looking extremely forward to LOST this week.

And can I just say that the Doctor's new assistant on Doctor Who is driving me absolutely batty and annoying the h3LL outta me!?! Wouldn't be surprised if they bring Rose back .... after all didn't we just see her? (was it last week or the week before ... i get confuzzled)

OH! and we finally got rid of our Orange bondo Bonne!!! YAY!!!! It is no longer taking up room in our driveway. I'll be the neighbors will be ecstatic when they notice!

AND!!! We're heading up to Somewhere tomorrow night for gayraoke!! I'm hoping to sing something from Rent ^_^

Time to work on a couple more tawashi, watch tonight's Boston Legal, and then hit the hay!

My newest endeavour!

so I've been talking about doing this for awhile now, but we finally got some supplies and I'm gonna be making bottlecap jewelry! I'm so excited!!!

Basically I'll take a bottlecap and slightly flatten it out with a rubber hammer, put down a pictar I've sized and printed out and fill it with clear resin to protect it, then punch a hole in the top edge and attach a jump ring and then either hang it from a ball chain or a cord (might let people choose which they prefer cuz the price is equivelent) or earring hooks.

I also got a resin mold so that I could make my own resin pieces. I'm specifically thinking of just having pictars that I surround in the resin .... I can make them all different shapes so i wouldn't be limited to circles that can fit in a bottlecap.

I'm so excited!!!!

and tomorrow I plan on getting the tawashi that I've finished so far listed on etsy ... sneak peek here of course cuz you all is cool like that!

I LOVE BEING CRAFTY!!!!!
